Does anyone have any information they could share on the ancestors of Phebe Louttit b South Ronaldsay in 1828 who married Peter Aim after his first wife Margaret Cromarty died.

1841 census for South Ronaldsway Orkney & Shetland - all born there.  The 1841 does not show relationships but she was probably a grand daughter

David Louttit 75  farmer
Barbara   75
Margaret  40
David   35
Phebe  14
Robert Norn 15

Thank you for that. I've now discovered that Phoebe was the illegitimate daughter of Margaret so I now need to find which John Loutit was her father? the search goes on.

The BEST site for research in South Ronaldsay is www.southronaldsay.net

This site has 1821 census etc & Hugh Wallis' Orkney site is another good site.

Good luck hope this is helpful to you
