Re the Carmania passage he was going to his Uncle Mr. W. Hampson 7013 South Main St., Los Angeles, Calif. He was 5'6" brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion. He was intending to be a permanent resident of the US.

best for you to check through the census to suss it out as in most of the census there are two Simpsons and both in the wigan area each time even in the 1911 there is one newly born, and one who is in the miltary and a Joseph Simpson Chatterley and a Thomas Simson Chatterley, so easy for you the name has been carried through the years, as i say you just need to suss out who and which by what you already know
