Hi Beckey

My 3 g grandmother had two children, male and female. On their marriage certs they both state the same parents and fathers occupation, neither claim to have been illigitimate but they were. They were born before 1855 so no certs for information.

The 'fathers' name ran down through the family until the 1930's, I suspect this person was the father but married someone else  Roll Eyes

Not saying this is what has happened here just giving an example of confusion.

I don't think there is anything unusual about the daughter not registering the death.

Hi terry hastie,

Thanks for reply, had a few illigitimate certs. but at least they accepted the fact even some derogatory remarks by the Minister.  Catherine had another child in 1867 but this time no father mentioned latter died 1870

It just seemed peculiar that they reverted to the mothers name Lamberton then back again, perhaps to cover up.  Also had a few that married and vanished leaving the wife to get on with it.

I just thought it peculiar that Margaret was in Eymouth or near bye and Catherine's brother had to travel from Glasgow to witness the death.
