Huh   Grin  (I know that should make sense - I think  Wink )

Once upon a time in a far distant land there were 4 daughters, all born to the same parents - Mr and Mrs Cole  Wink
The daughters all did as young ladies were supposed to do and they married who they were told to marry.

Unfortunately, as was not the norm for the times (1500's) the young ladies outlived their respective husbands. The reasons for this was just the usual happenings of the times - you know, the odd hanging, beheading, starvation in the Tower etc.

As a consequence, the poor widows had to start all over again and find another husband to support them in the manner to which they would like to become accoustomed.

Two of the poor wretched sisters married two poor (and unwitting) brothers but unfortunately, both brothers died when the King said "off with heads" - so it was back to square one - find another husband!

By the end of their lives, the combined total of marriages, including those of the husbands who had been married before (naturally!) was a total of almost 30 marriages.

As you see - just the normal, run-of-the-mill, common ole' family tree.  Grin

I think I should get out more  Shocked

(Note to self - get another hobby!)

so if the 4 sisters have the same parents then you should just put their descendants and their husbands down not the husbands family

so we have Richard m. Mary and they had children
Anne m. Thomas
Mary m. Jeremiah
Elizabeth m. John
Martha m Thomas( a different Thomas from Annes Thomas)

and so on and so on

Yes I know that sounds the sensible thing to do Toni but I did want to note that each husband was actually the brother of another girls husband
ie two sisters married two brothers
THREE TIMES!!  (like musical chairs 'cept they were husbands)

Maybe I've just confused myself and I should write it all out all over again

Oh well - at least it's a change from the normal convicts and fellons I have  Roll Eyes

That's what I had to do in the end Toni.

I did a "vertical" tree with the husband under the wife, kids under that, next husband underneath, their kids etc. I included a note saying "brother of..."

I couldn't connect the brothers as it just ended up too messy but at least I can understand what it means - I just hope others can as well  Undecided

Thanks for your help

If I used it just for my own information then that suggestion would work fine Toni but sometime, maybe, in the future, I'd like to include the tree in an article.

As you suggested, notes against each brother will probably work

**idea**
maybe I can just put a small number beside each guy and the notes could be written on the bottom of the page - like a source listing.

Will try a few different versions - again!!
