AFFLECK-MELBOURNE-1839
« on: Sunday 06 March 05 00:23 GMT (UK) »

Hi there
I'm looking for WILLIAM AFFLECK/AUCHENLECK and his wife ANN HONEYMAN who arrived in Australia from Scotland arriving in Port Phillip July 1839. Their daughter CHRISTIANA HONEYMAN AFFLECK married WILLIAM MAITLAND ATKINSON  and they ran the OAKLEIGH POUND in South Yarra.
Would love to find the shipping details for Christiana's parents.
Regards - Ruby

I recently found this link
Port Phillip Herald - go to http://www.paperofrecord.com/Default.asp
and in the top left-hand corner under the number of pages digitised you will see a headline "Now available" and some newspaper mastheads underneath it, then a line saying "More..."
Click "More", then you will go to a page with a list of the papers available, including the Port Phillip Herald.

and thought it may help you - sadly it starts in 1840 - 6 months too late. It is a pay site but you can search for free. I did a search for Affleck and found 15 hits for 1840 so you may find some family info there. Sorry it is not the ship.

Hi Trish
Thanks for taking the time to answer my query. I'll certainly take a look. My Affleck's arrived in 1839 so those references could well relate to them.
Again many thanks
