Placename- Rohincall or Rolmcall or Rlincall - Dowally Parish
« on: Thursday 24 September 09 16:01 UTC (UK) »

Hi All

I am looking for a place that appears on many entries I have been looking at in the OPR.  It is in the Parish of Dowally.  Circa 1750-1800

However I am not able to find it on any map I have looked at  Huh

I would think it is somewhere in the Dowally Parish but obviously does not exist today.

Anybody have a suggestion as to what it might be ...

Have you been looking at actual OPRs or transcriptions?
Present day names include Kindallachan and Rotmell. I can't see anything else at present that might be it.

Hi Ev and Isabel

I am looking at the actual copies of the OPR Entries ... there were a number of families I am interested in having children baptised from this farm and I could find out where it was!

However Isabel, Rotmell is likely it  Grin!!!!  As some entries look like Rohnal others the 'h' could be an 'l' or a 't' and then the 'n' well it could be an 'm' or a 'c'...

I just needed to go south a bit more towards Little Dunkeld!  I was staying at Guay and above as other families I am interested in, from this same grouping were at Haugh of Kilmorich (which still exists today), Croftdavid (again, still exists today) Ballinliug (again it is found on the map!)  And so I had assumed it was close and it is but just not exactly where I was looking

Thanks loads
