Burials Cuckfield 1790's - Gatford *COMPLETED*
« on: Friday 25 September 09 15:41 UTC (UK) »

Hi Helpers

I'm trying to find any records for the death of a Sarah Gatford born about 1792 and subsequently baptised in Cuckfield on the 25/26th June 1797. Her death would be prior to 1804.

Also her sister Mary Gatford born about 1797 and subsequently baptised in Cuckfield on the 25/26th June 1797. Her death would be prior to 1802.

I would also be interested if during the course of your lookup any trace of either of the children are to be found after 1804 and 1802 respectively.

It's a bit of a strange request but I'm trying to establish that parents Walter Gatford and Bett Picknell are one and the same as Walter and Elizabeth Gatford who have further children Mary b1802 and Sarah b1804 at Cuckfield, if you follow.

I can explain this further if it helps .... many thanks in anticipation for any info or pointers you can give.

Hi youngman

I don't know whether this helps at all but I found the following two burials on FMP

Sarah Gatford buried at Cuckfield on 27 December 1798 age 0

Sarah Gatford buried at Cuckfield on 26 February 1804 at Cuckfield 1 year old, daughter John

no sign of any Mary's

Thanks for looking Kerry but those two are both John & Ann Gatford's children as far as I know at this stage unrelated to us.

Thanks Sean "Friend" is one of mine and I have never found the burial so that has pieced another bit of the jigsaw together.

Would you happen to know if the Cuckfield Holy Trinity Church records for this period are complete and held somewhere?

Once again thanks.

The burial records are on the SFHG database and look complete to me.
If I remember rightly there is a rootschatter that has cuckfield connections, the name escapes me for the minute, they might be able to help you further.

Regards
Sean

PS
The SFHG datbase can be found at http://www.sfhg.org.uk/ access is about £12 for the year.

Hi Youngman

Glad you got one answer anyway  Smiley

The rootschatter that swebby is referring to is Sillgen.  She is often to be found either on the Sussex boards or she is the mod for Northumberland and some other county up north and she is very helpful.
