Does anyone know or own this family from Jersey
« on: Saturday 26 September 09 23:16 UTC (UK) »

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this comment, but I have just posted a picture of a family on the FH and artefacts board http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=408876.new

It is a lovely family that my mother told me were all shot by the Nazis in WW2. She knew them before the war.

Does anyone know them?  I don't even know if the story is fact or not.

Hi Rabbit B,

This seems quite a sad story.  I'm sure you probably know that Jersey was occupied by the Germans during the second world war and some locals were deported to concentration camps for some sort of wrong doing, i.e. trying to escape, owning a wireless.

Our local newspaper, The Jersey Evening Post do a series, I think once a month called Temp Passe (Times Past).  They are often sent photos that people have found but don't anything about and ask the public whether they know the people in the photo, it's worth trying them if you don't get any joy, the e-mail address I have found is features@jerseyeveningpost.com

If you do try the JEP and they agree to run the photo let me know and I'll look out for the article.

Kind regards
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

I know, I lived through the war as well.  I have been to Jersey and seen for myself the Military hospital, it gave me the creeps to be honest.  Interesting and dreadful to think of what was done there.

Please feel free to take a copy of the picture, and give it to the newspaper yourself!  I have written all I know about the family at the beginning of the thread and thought that the picture might belong to someone still living!

All I know is that mother knew them, nothing else I am afraid, but by all means let the local paper have it!  Someone might know who they are, and if the story is true.

Welcome to Rootschat and thanks for your information!
