I gather that Spatchett is very much a Suffolk/Norfolk surname but our Samuel Spatchett is first known to us as working as a gardener in Baldock +Tetworth Herts. 1820-1845. We don't know where to start looking for him before that, presumably he moved from East Anglia to Herts. to work. His son Thomas was a coachman in London and his children eventually ended up in Newcastle on Tyne after his widow re-married. Any Suffolk/Norfolk expertise would be welcome.

-I understand now - the family were in Baldock Herts in 1838/9 -for birth of Elizabeth and then moved to tetworth Huntingdonshire by the time of 1841 census
There are death reg's in Norfolk for Samuel and Ann before 1851 -if they are the correct Samuel and Ann
So what kind of Suffolk/Norfolk information are you looking for?

Yes, these are our Spatchetts . I would like to find out where they were born, presumably Suffolk/Norfolk.Is there any village where the name is particularly common? What is the availability of parish records in the area? Where in Norfolk were the deaths you mentioned? I have Samuel Spetchet death 1842 Hendon- William and Elizabeth are nearby in 1851.+ Ann Spatcher d.1846 Brackley, Bucks- I need to send for these certs. to check. One prob. with the name is that is spelled variously: Spetcher/t, Spatcher/at etc.
