Hello,
Wonder if anyone can expand on my knowledge of the Clift/Cliffe family from Springfield, Essex.
Info I have to date is:
James Cliff, bur. Springfield 7-2-1813, marr. there 14-10-1754, Sarah Rolphe, b. c. 1725, bur. Springfield 3-7-1799.
They had: James, bap. Sp´ld. 12-10-1755, bur. Sp´ld 12-2-1804, marr. Sp´ld 15-10-1781 Ann Chapman of Boreham; John bap. 15-1-1757; Thomas bap. 6-5-1759; Edward bap. 4-1-1761; & William bap. 2-5-1762.
James jr. & Ann Chapman had: James bap. Sp´fd 8-4-1787; Sarah & Ann, twins bap. 4-2-1790; Mary bap. 27-1-1793; & Lucy bap. 31-1-1796.
I have lots of info on the subsequent life of James bap. 1787 (my 3 x gt grandfather), but further info on any of the others abovementioned would be very gratefully received. I would love more info on Sarah Rolphe.

I have found a Baptism for a Sarah Rolphe in 1727, not in Essex but over the border into Cambridgeshire.

Baptised 26 April 1727 Burwell Cambridgeshire

Hi Frances,
Thanks for that info. I never thought of trying Cambridgeshire. Her parents seem to be a John Rolphe & Frances Heifer marr in 1726 same place, but no other children on IGI. There are a lot of Rolphes in Springfield, Essex and around but no obvious Sarah. Needs more thought and investigation. Thanks for the kickstart.
