Pakenham PRs Look up - SALISBURY

Hi, l have just discovered a possible breakthrough and wondered if anyone had access to the above Parish records? if so could they spare the time to look for any baptisms between 1592 & 1615 to a John Salisbury(Salsburie) and a Denice Palfrey, this couple marry in pakenham in 1592.

I realise its a long shot but if anyone can help l would be extremely grateful Huh

Hi Robert

I took your request with me into town today and popped into the records office on my way home.  The records for Pakenham as far back as 1592 have not been copied onto fiche but they had typed copies of the bishops transcripts on microfilm.  The records were indexed by surname but unfortunately Salisbury only showed up three times in the index.

Two entries related to the marriage of John Salisburie and Denice Palferie (Salisburie) who married in the parish on 17th September 1592.

The other entry was the burial of John Salisburie, 27th March 1594 (no age given so can't tell if this is the John who married in 1592 or not).

I ignored the index and scanned the following years for Salisburys anyway (as I usually do) but there did not appear to be any further events recorded there  Sad

You have my sincere thanks for giving up your own time to help, it really is most kind of you.

I have recently been given some info from the Suffolk burial index in relation to the Salisbury name, the info only relates to the parish of Barrow but shows the burial of a John Salisbury so John & Denice in Feb 1604, my guess is that this is the same couple who marry and bury a son in Pakenham? obviously this is only conjecture but the abscence of any further entries for either John or Denice would suggest that they migrated to another parish sometime after the death of John in 1594................................sorry Anne l'm going on.

After reading your reply I logged onto the following wonderful website

www.birdfamilytree.co.uk

which includes the Suffolk Burial Index, and which another rootschatter recently told me about.

I'm not sure if you're aware of it, or if this is where you found your Salisbury information, but when I put Salisbury into the search engine, leaving the parish blank, it came up with the following results:

John Salisbury s/o John & Dennis (Denice) 10th Feb 1604 at Gt Barton
Thomas Salisbury s/o John & Dennis (Denice) 11th Feb 1604 at Gt Barton
Thomas Salisbury widower 18th March 1604 at Gt Barton
Dennis Salisbury (Denice?) wife of John 25th Feb 1605 at Gt Barton

and some others.

When I looked at Gt Barton on the map, it is right next to Pakenham.

I suspect Barrow (above) may've just been a typo but just in case, I thought I'd pass this on.
