Looking for a Mary Fagan
« on: Wednesday 30 September 09 00:48 UTC (UK) »

Hello

I'm looking for a birth and marriage for Mary Fagan.

On 22nd Oct 1840 Mary Lettice nee Fagan aged 36 (b.1803?), is transported to Australia for Larceny.  She stood trial at Meath and was recorded as a widow from Co Westmeath with 3 children. They sailed on the Mary Anne from Dublin to Hobart with their mother, Margaret b. 1831, Thomas b.1833 and Michael b.1837.
Is it possible to find births or christening dates for these children?

I don't know Marys parents names.

Ireland and Australia transportation database at the Irish national archives has her recorded as 'Lettue'. I am unsure whether that is because of a mistranscription.
I have seen other spellings like Lethis and Letis.
In searches or her on the IFHF site, only the name Lawless appears.

I would really love to find out what the childrens fathers name was and when Mary was born. Any assistance or ideas of direction would be greatly appreciated, I'm really stuck.

Regards
Ruth
