Maryhill Crematorium
« on: Wednesday 30 September 09 11:11 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone tell me if there was/is a crematorium in the Maryhill District of Glasgow and, if so, what is/was its official name. I have a relative who was apparently cremated there in 1950, her ashes being dispersed thereafter in the Garden of Remembrance.

Hello dixons,

There is indeed a crematorium in Maryhill.

It's either known as Glasgow or Maryhill Crematorium and sits within the grounds of the Western Necropolis at Tresta Road, Glasgow G23 5AA

Telephone: 0141-946 2895

They have an online Book of Remembrance which I think you have to register to see: http://www.remembranceonline.co.uk/mtree/burial-and-cremation/crematoria/maryhill-crematorium

The Garden of Remembrance & Columbarium are tucked away and unless you know of their existance, you'd probably walk right past the wee entrance.
