Thanks. Stephen

Mmm ... don't see any birth registrations for children of this couple (though bear in mind that Louisa was 39 when she married).

You might like to do a further check, here >>

Hi
Many thanks Lu, Althea and Ian. Louisa's eldest sister Emily married my relation in Hamilton Australia in January 1861. He had been in NZ/Australia since 1839 and was nearly 18 years older. Never quite found out how these arranged marriages were organised, but I don't think families knew each other. (Does anyone know if it was 'normally' through the Church or by advert?). She arrived in Australia from London in December 1860 so they married immediately. Two years later in 1862 her widowed mother arrived in Hamilton with her 3 daughters Sarah, Ellen and Louisa. Emily left the marriage before 1867 and set up a school in another town and died aged 86 in 1920. There were no children. The others stayed in Hamilton and seem to have been on good terms with my relation. Sarah and Ellen in time married. I knew that Louisa had married from my relation's 1887 will but could not find marriage. He moved back to NZ in 1881 and lived in Auckland. It seems he probably encouraged Louisa to move to Auckland too and she married Henry Field as you have told me. Just need to find out now when she came to NZ to be sure.
