There's a lovely thread here http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1132568 about a lady who bought some love letters which were written by a couple from Bootle during the war. She found them in a junk shop in Wales and is trying to find out their descendants so that she can give them the letters.
They've got a long way towards finding someone who she can give the letters to. I've posted the link in the Common Room, but thought that someone with local Lancashire knowledge might have more information. It's a lovely read, even if you don't know anything about them.

And now I'm sitting here until lunchtime hoping for an update to be posted. Hope the family are found.

Me too MaryA! I've just had a look, and the lady's just posted what happened...she's still not managed to get in touch with the daughter, but she's got some very good leads now. I'm thinking of joining that board just to tell her how much I've enjoyed reading her thread!

Still no joy, but someone's nominated the thread on BBC Radio 6's good deeds programme. I've never listened to it, so not totally sure how it works, but it's here http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/rh6m/ and you can fast forward to 19 minutes if you don't want to listen to the whole thing. The blokes haven't really got the gist of how it all happened, but never mind. It's gone national! How come RC's never been on the radio? (Or perhaps we have and I just didn't hear about it.)

Ooh, lovely! Thanks MaryA. What a treasure trove. I've half a mind to join DS so I can point everyone who's enjoyed that thread in RC's direction. It doesn't seem a particularly kind forum, though, apart from that thread - someone from Norway, who joined just to help, got his head bitten off yesterday.
I haven't looked on the thread today, so I'll have to pop in and see if there's been any contact made yet.

I dont think a Records Office will have any info to look up! You will need to get the death cert, and I am not sure that will be easy to get for a death so recent. Are you not in touch with the relations with it only being last year? If you have news of the persons death, then that must have come from someone?

The lady with the letters is very hopeful that she has found the grand-daughter of the couple and is waiting with baited breath for contact with her...
The folks on the DS forum have rallied together and done her proud...an effort to rival the best RC thread!

The OP has asked if anyone on the forum knows anyone who works in a hospital in Liverpool, so I guess she's had a lead in that direction. I do hope she finds someone soon.
I have to say, I wouldn't want to have to read all 28 pages of the thread at once! As of now, the thread has had 60,029 viewings! That's a fairly major thread in one week and it's already an international phenomenon!

What a fantastic story,
This would be an intersting article to post on the Bootle history website, www.bootlehistory.co.uk
You never know if anyone on there might have known the Shorrock or Jergensen family.
I found the marriage on the anc site and Mildred was Mildred I Shorrock, and Harry was Harry V Jergensen.
