Drumnadrochit 1880s - are you connected? Do you know the local history?
« on: Thursday 01 October 09 08:50 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
I was wondering if there is anyone out there who specializes in the history of Drumnadrochit/Urquhart/Loch Ness area?

From the 1881 census for Drumnadrochit I have the McIntosh family:-

John McIntosh was a Flesher (local butcher?)

One of his sons is Alexander McIntosh and is the Postmaster.

John was my GG-grandfather and Alexander was my G-granduncle.

John McIntosh's father Alexander was from Lower Bunloit which is south-west of Urquhart Castle.

I'd be interested in information on the Post office in the 1880s and anything else related to Drumnadrochit around that time.

thanks for looking
Bob
