James Harrison & Betty Bentham ca 1771 Info needed
« on: Thursday 01 October 09 19:52 UTC (UK) »

James Harrison and Betty Bentham
were married on 6 Nov 1797 at St Wilfrids in Standish. (Listed in IGI and on OPC). What I need to find out is if anyone has access to the original Church records for the marriage and banns and could tell me if the ages of the  bride and groom are listed and also if parents are listed for them.
They are my 4G Grand parents and also my brick wall on this line.

Hi Dee,

The OPC transcription was taken from a microfilm or fiche of the Marriage register and will be the full record of what was recorded at the time of the marriage.   There were no fathers names listed or ages of the bride and groom in that time frame.  All you get is the bride and groom, usually "of this Parish" and the name of the witnesses.  Sometimes a forward thinking person would actually record the grooms occupation but not often enough  Roll Eyes
