Hi I wonder can anyone help me with the following:

Catherine Woods   b.?18/5/1845

Had child Michael Murphy b. 30/5/1866 Callan, Kilkenny.

Catherine appears to have married William Kinsella of Paulstown on 18/21867

and then subsequently had a child John Kinsella b. 26/12/1867.

Michael Murphy is my g.grandfather.  I had been searching for his siblings under the name of Murphy but this appears now to be incorrect as it appears they should come under the name of Kinsella. 

It is possible he had brothers John, Stephen and maybe Philip and a sister Mary who we think married a Thomas Ryan.  The Ryan family lived at Moanmore near Mullinahone.  Family lore says that his brothers went to America where one worked on the Pacific Railways and the other married a Senator.

If there is anybody who could shed some light on this by look ups or any other information for me I would be really grateful.

IGI (www.familysearch.org) shows several children for William Kinsella and Catherine Woods:
1. John born 26 Dec.1867 Co.Kilkenny
2. Anne born 11 Sept.1869 Co.Kilkenny
3. Peter born 6 July 1871 Co.Kilkenny
4. Patrick born 12 Mar.1874 Co.Kilkenny
5. William born 29 May 1879 Shankill district, Co. Kilkenny

Hi Aghadowey,

Wow thats thrown me completely!!  I've just spoken to my mum and she said she never heard her grandfather mention those names at all!  Apparently he said John and Stephen were brothers and Catherine or Kate (apologies but she's elderly and the information comes and goes).

I have Michael Murphys birth details 30/5/1866 Mother Catherine Woods and Father Edmund Murphy but I could never find a marriage for them.  I'm wondering do I have the right Catherine Woods now - I also wonder if it is the right one, was she a widow and then married Mr. Kinsella? 

Could I trouble you to have another look for me as I'm afraid I've gone in completely the wrong direction.

You can search IGI yourself (it's free): www.familysearch.org. I found those children by doing a parent search (enter only name of father and name of mother on advanced search page- you might want to put in Edmund/Edward Murphy and Catherine Woods to see if anything comes up.

Hi everybody and thanks for all your help.  I have hit a blank wall on my search for my g grandfathers family. 

It seems I may be looking at the wrong Catherine Woods.  There is another b 20/7/1840 in Callan and this may possibly be the Catherine I'm looking for.  However, I cannot find any more details on her.  I'm particularly looking for a marriage for her - and then siblings for my g grandfather Michael Murphy.  I've searched through all the free and paying sites but can't find anything. 

I would be very grateful for any help anyone can give me.  Thank you so much.
