grandfather from oslo norway

hi there everyone this is my first time on this website. the question that i have is that my grandfather was born in oslo norway in 1906 i dont know is parents names and he imgrated to australia in 1926 but i cant find anything in norway about him nor his parents i dont know what parish he came from either his name was holm torbeon larsen can anyone help me on this one because it has baffled me
if you can help me it would be great

Wish I had some good news to tell you but after spending ages going through Norwegian Emigration records I finally gave up and checked a general genealogy site. 

I found your family tree and now understand why he wasn't in the records.  I assume you have seen the several crews lists that show a Holm Larsen b. Jan. 8,1906 as a crewman.

As he was born to late to be on the last census on-line, there is no emigration record for him and the fact that he actually went to Australia on a whaling ship you seem to have a difficult task on your hands to find him.

which explains Maritime Inscription - registers of seamen.  The information is not on-line but if you navigate around the site to the message board you may be able to find someone living in Norway who is willing to do a look-up for you.
