Hi Simon
Are you trying to work backwards or forwards?
Do you have census details for 1841/51/61/71/81? Shout if you want them
I see the 1881 census records Louis as living with wife Mary in the household of his Bridgeman in-laws and listed as "Manager Saddlery Business Paris" (at least I think it says Paris).
Father Richard Jeffrey/Jeffery b c1814 in Dublin, Ireland, bootmaker. Mother Mary Ann b c1821 St James, Middlesex.
I can see a marriage for a Richard Jeffery and possibly Mary Ann McQuoin on the same page, Dec Qtr 1839, St James, Westminster, Vol 1 Page 111. And another marriage for a Richard Jeffery to a Mary Ann Jenkins, 14/7/1839, Lambeth. Is either of these them? Interestingly Joseph b c1844 appears to be the oldest child.
Kind regards Gaie
Added: Sorry, I see you did put 1880-1920, so you probably know all this anyway.
