Hardisty/Ingham
« on: Friday 02 October 09 14:04 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I received the marriage certificate of Thomas Ingham and Francis Harriet Hardisty today in the post.
Sep 1861 Nottingham 7b 272
Thomas Ingham to possibly Frances Harriett Hardisty

Thomas b. was a batchelor/Dyer his father Fredrick Ingham (Dec ?) Profession ill-eligible.
Frances Harriett Hardisty b.1839 a spinster her father John Hardisty a Polisher.

Both Thomas and Frances were living at Nelson Street and the marriage was registered in St. Mary's Parish Church, Nottingham.

Frances left her mark.
Witnesses were William Bailey and Mary Brownley (also left her mark).

1) Try as I might I can't find Thomas's birth or his presence prior to the marriage. His father is as stated above Frederick with a Dec and ? on the certificate.

2) I also received the birth certificate of Matilda Ingham born 9 May 1875. Her mother is Frances Harriett Ingham formally Hardisty. The birth certificate states no name of father East End Droylsden.

On the 1881 Census
Frances is Head    and a Widow aged 40 1841 a Cotton Mill Hand Nottingham
with
Bertha Ingham    Single aged 15   1866 a Cotton Mill Hand Nottingham
Thomas Ingham Single aged 13   1868 a Cotton Mill Hand (Manuf) Nottingham
Frances M   Single aged 9 1872 a Scholar Leeds, Yorkshire
Matilda Ingham   Single aged 5 1876 a    Scholar

Can anyone help me find more about Thomas?

Harriet Ingham mar 30 dressmaker
Henry 8

All "lodgers" living with other families and couples.
It looks as though Frances/Harriet are one and the same.

Hi,

You don`t say how old Thomas was on the marriage certificate but there is a 10 year old Thomas with a father Frederic (sic) on the 1851 census living in St. Marys, Nottingham.  Fredericks occupation looks like framework knitter but the image is very bad.

Hi David,

It looks like Frederick had died by the 1861 census.  This is the same family:

7 Cherry Street, Nottingham

Elizabeth Ingham, Head, Wid, 45, Cotton Spinner
THOMAS, Son, U, 19, DYER
Sophia, Daur, 14
Mary, Daur, 11 months

No places of birth - the column is blank.

RG9/2461 folio 57 page 21.

Regards,
Mo

no worries -Mo!

You were kind enough to give the details  Grin

can't spot a death for Thomas though as yet.

I wonder if he was the father of Frances b 1872?

Found what I believe to be Frederick Inghams death

Deaths Jun 1855
Ingham Frederick
Nottingham    7b   137

Looks promising as he disappears between the 1851 and 1861.

1) Try as I might I can't find Thomas's birth or his presence prior to the marriage.

He was found back in June on your Whitehead thread. All we needed was confirmation off the marriage cert that his father was Frederick  Huh
