I am researching William BOWLES b 1870 John Edward BOWLES b 1874 Ada BOWLES b1877 They are all found together in 1881 as (BOLES) boarders with Mrs Fisher in West Derby.
William and John were both born to Elizabeth BOWLES in Liverpool Workhouse with no father named on b certs Ada (if I have the right cert) was d/o William Bowles and Eliza nee Smith of Lovat St, Lpool John also gave William as father on his marriage cert.
My questions are: If I assume Elizabeth Bowles was living in the workhouse as both boys were born there AND it was segregated m/f - how was she getting errm access to William Bowles putative father to the boys? (Or: as he is not named on the Workhouse certs)- is Eliza Bowles, mother of Ada, likely to be someone else?
And does the fact that he's not named mean he's NOT the father? And therefore Elizabeth is born Bowles not married Bowles?
*Finally- could someone tell me how to search anc***y (or elsewhere) so I can find Liverpool Workhouse census pages in 1871 (as neither Elizth Bowles or William b1870 are coming up on searches anywhere else). I thought they might be listed as initials only and want to look thro the list of residents. *This part COMPLETED
Very grateful for any help as these Bowles have me sleepless at night!

I've checked all the B's and theres just the one- a William but seems unlikely to be connected as father or son as dob is 1834
