Hi these are the only census links I have to gr gr gr grand parents  I was once told they originated from waterford ireland
before moving to the UK staffordshire  they were Roman Catholic

Civil registration started in Ireland in 1864 - so too late to include any details of your McGarry family. The next step would be parish records but you would need to establish which parish (or townland) the family came from.

There's a page on the Irish Times website with the County Waterford RC parish and details on which records survive - see : http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/counties/rcmaps/waterfordrc.htm

I dont think any Co. Waterford parish records are available online at the moment - so the best place to look is in the National Library (Dublin), which has RC records available on Microfilm. See their film index : http://www.nli.ie/en/parish-register.aspx

From Shearmans 1839 Directory of Waterford , Michael McGary, Smith,  46 Mayors Walk , Waterford City. He was not in the 1846 Slaters Directory for Waterford.
