STOKES from Langar, Nottinghamshire, England to Canada
« on: Saturday 03 October 09 00:13 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for information with regards to the descendants of James Stokes, born about 1764 and his wife Mary Carpendale born about 1876.  Both were born in Barnstone, Nottinghamshire.  They had 10 children, Anne, Christopher, William, Thomas, James, Sarah, George, John, Isaac and Reuben.  Christopher came to Canada with his wife Mary Ann Swain and daughter Ann in 1830 and settled in Ontario and was then followed by his brother Reuben and his sons Thomas and Isaac in 1850.  I am sure there may have been others.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Margaret Dowd
