Welcome to Rootschat. Index to civil registrations is now online (free) and you can search for Fullertons there. Once you get the details from the index (name, year/quarter, registration district, volume and page numbers) you can order the certificates.
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails;t=searchable;c=1408347

Details for ordering N.I. certificates:
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,383526.0.html

1911 census is also online free:
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search

P.S. IGI (www.familysearch.org) have some, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882 online.

Lorraine,
As Aghadowey says if you look at the 191 census I think I can see the family in Kenbann St. Pottinger, Co.Down. If you go to Form A you will see that Alexander has crossed out the district of Dundonald where he was born. I can find the birth of a 42 year old Alexander Fullerton in the nearby district of Holywood who was born to John Fullerton and Hannah (one of the children's names) McClinton on 1 Apr 1869.
I have also found the marriage of an Alexander Fullerton to Mary Campbell on 15 Feb 1898 in St Annes Church of Ireland Shankill, Belfast.  Even if some of this is speculative you can keep it for future reference.

Regards

There is a birth index entry for a Harriett Fullerton in Belfast area,  April to June Quarter 1910, but no sign of her on the Census for 1911,  nor sign of an Alexander aged c31 to 41..........could the family have left Ireland?

Aha, think I've found them in 1911, but in County Down and with some mis-transcriptions:

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0786/

as you will see, Harriett is transcribed as Harritt.  If you view the actual image, however, it is clearly Harriett. Some of the other children have had their names mis-transcribed too.......and so Saran is actually Susan and Hunnah is in fact Hannah.

Alexander was born in County Down and his wife in Ayrshire, Scotland.  If you look closely, you may notice Alexander seems to have written a townland/area of birth but this was not needed and has been scored through. If you enlarge copy, you may find it possible to read same. Also, as you  now have a more accurate age for Alexander, you should manage to track down his birth.

Trust this helps.

Grin.....kingskerswell and me obviously thinking alike here.......but they were quicker to post and I didn't notice....no harm done though......hope you have enough suggestions to be going on with.

ps the 1898 marriage looks to have husband's father as John, so looking a good possibility.
