According to an article in today's [3 Oct 2009] Halifax Courier

http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news/Library-is-safe--Council.5700097.jp

it looks like the Calderdale Archives [and the public library] are safe and are not going to be demolished and rehoused elsewhere

Common sense at last, people power Malcolm. Unfortunately the support is not always there - The Halifax museum over the road from Eureka for instance Huh

Hi Marmaduke,
Re Halifax museum - some years ago I heard that there was a portrait of my gggrandfather, James Butler, hanging in there. So naturally enough I went along to have a look. Unfortunately the place was all locked up. I made some inquiries and was told that the place was unsafe and that no one could enter, not even to remove the exhibits to other museums eg. Bankfield.
As far as I know the situation remains the same

Bureaucracy ?
