Death in USA

Hi All
This is a long shot but am wondering if someone can help me find the death of my cousin.  Her name was Aileen E Mahon Born Dublin Ireland 1945.  All I know about her is that she died in the USA about 1982.  I'm not sure if she was living there or on holiday at the time of her death. Any help you can give me or advice about how to go about searching or where to start would be a great help. Thank you.

Was that her maiden name, or married name ?   Her death would have been registered in her married name.

Hi Nick her maiden name was Mahon she was not married as far as I know

If she was living in the US, you try checking the Social Security Death Index at www.rootsweb.com or www.familysearch.org.  If she's not on there, you would likely need to know what state she died in.  Also, some states have limitations on who can order recent death certificates, and it's often limited to immediate family.
