Help!
« on: Saturday 03 October 09 18:39 UTC (UK) »

I wonder whether anyone can help me with some ongoing Computer problems. My prime concern is the endless stream of error messages I'm getting. These are initialled iedw.exe.I can be surfing for perhaps ten minutes or so and when one of these boxes appear,my Internet Explorer closes automatically.
The second thing that is worrying is the seemingly endless amount of updates I'm getting.about four or five lots per day.I am running Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP

iedw.exe. is not a virus, spyware etc so no need to run any scans,
it is part of MS and a crash protection file,
the reason why you keep getting the updates is because something is stopping them being updated, they are d/l ok,
are you running virus spyware protection? if so turn them off or down to allow the updates to install, you need to get them loaded before going any further re iedw.exe. as you may find it cures your problems, also check you have latest service pack loaded as that maybe one of the updates not correctly installed

Whilst the programme you highlighted Stan in the link would apparently be of some benefit,I have to ask why my paid version of Registry Cure isn't picking these errors up?

This is part of the Doctor Watson debugger:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Watson_(debugger)

The DW part of iedw.exe means Dr Watson.

I'm not sure why you are blaming Registry Cure for not picking up these errors as all it does is remove invalid registry errors.

If you look in Event Viewer it may have more information about the faulting application and a possible solution.

Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Event Viewer.

Look in the Application section for any Errors and double click them.  There should be a link to Microsoft for more information and a possible solution.
