There is information about ordering a death certificate from Maine here:  http://www.maine.gov/dhhs/bohodr/order3.htm and here:  http://portalx.bisoex.state.me.us/pls/archives_mhsf/archdev.death_archive.search_form

You could also try e-mailing the local library where she lived to see if they have an obituary for her:  http://www.sacomuseum.org/library/history.shtml  Sometimes, obituaries will give maiden names or parents' names.  Her exact date of death is listed on the Maine archives website (the 2nd one above).

There's a tree here that gives her maiden name as McMillan:  http://www.laddfamily.com/10416.htm

The 1930 Census has an Agnes MacMillan, age 22, single, b. Scotland, immigrated 1910, insurance office manager, living in Saco, Maine.  She was the daughter of Thomas, age 62, b. Scotland, immigrated 1910, laborer, and Margaret, age 61, b. Scotland, immigrated 1910.  They were all naturalized.  Thomas' age at 1st marriage was 23, and Margaret's was 22.

In the 1920 Census, the family was in Saco, Maine, but Agnes also has older sisters Helen R., age 30;  Janette, age 25;  and Isabelle A.P., age 16.  Agnes's middle initials are listed as N.P., and the surname is spelled Macmillin.  Aunt Margaret Paterson, age 65, is also living with them.  All were born Scotland.  Thomas is listed as having papers filed for naturalization, and all others are listed as aliens.  Immigration dates for all are 1910.  Thomas was a mill worker in the cotton mill.  Helen & Janette were quillers in the cotton mill.  Margaret was doing housework in a hospital.

There's a passenger list for the SS Numidian going from Glasgow to Boston arriving 20 Apr. 1910 with all of the above McMillans, plus a daughter Margaret, age 11, and son Archibald, age 10.  Margaret Paterson is also listed below them, and is noted to have marked deafness.  They last resided in Rutherglen, Scotland.  Thomas' nearest relative was brother Henry McMillan, 54 Rosebery St., Glasgow S.S.  They were going to Saco, Maine to join Thomas' brother-in-law Jas. Rankin, 11 James St.  Also written in below that is "son Alex McMillan".   Thomas was born Mossand (?) Scotland.  Agnes' mother was born Rutherglen, as were Agnes, Isabel, Archibald, sister Margaret, and aunt Margaret.  Helen & Janet were born in Glasgow.

I have been told that the Agnes I am looking for would have been born in the Glasgow area to William Downs McMillan & Agnes Porter or Macintyre.

Can you give us as much information as you have about this family - ages, when they were last seen in Scotland, when they might have immigrated, occupations, etc.?

I don't have much, I was hoping some of the Ladd family descendants might be able to help.
William Downs McMillan and his wife Agnes both died in Glasgow. I am searching for any children they may have had.
They married in 1903 in Glasgow.
The Ladd family was suggested to me some time ago as Agnes Mary came from Rutherglen.
I guess she could have been a daughter to one of Williams siblings.
