Hi there

Well to start of with I have John Sunnucks 1801  East Peckham married to Jane 1811 Goudhurst.
I would like to know who his parents were, and any of his siblings and also what Jane's maiden name was if that is possible.
I have 8 of their children.
Hope you can help

Karen, Can't see anything for John on the East Peckham (St Michael's) Parish Register, but there are these two entries:

Marriage - 15 NOV 1795 - SUNNUCKS Thomas & CRAYFORD Susannah

Baptism - 4 JUN 1806 - Eliza F SUNNOCKS dau of Thomas & Susanna

So I would bet on John belonging with these, but either not baptised, baptised elsewhere, or missed off either the register or its transcription.

On the marriage between John & Jane, do you have an idea of the date (when was first child born), and location. Could be Goudhurst, Jane's home, or where they were living. Doesn't look like it was East Peckham.

Hi

Well, no luck yet, but looking at the census pages, we have quite a range of dates for John's birth:
1841 - 1797-1801 (age 40 to 44 yrs, rounded down to 40)
1851 - 1802 (age 49)
1861 - 1803 (age 58)
1871 - 1798 (age 73)
1873 (death) - 1798 (age 75)

Not unusual for the time, but it does broaden the range to search.

I've looked at all the Parish registers I have access to with no luck, so you will need to try others only available on microfiche (from Kent FHS), such as Nettlestead, West Peckham, West Malling etc.

West Peckham might be a good one, as on the 1851 census Mary (born abt 1824), now married to Thomas Foreman (marr in 1844) gives that as her birth place. As she was the eldest, it appears, that might be a good place to look for John/Jane's marriage. We can be pretty sure this is Mary Sunnuck, as brother Thomas is lodging in the same house.

I may also have found another child for John/Jane. On  http://www.west-malling.co.uk/V2/baptisms.php5 they list baptisms for Henry, Grace Caroline, and Ellen. Ellen wasn't on your list.

There is a Sunnocks in my family tree, but his name was originally Sevenoaks, but abbreviated to Sunnocks in the parish register.
He came from the Yalding, Marden area and married in Horsmonden in the 1830s.
I mention this due to the name and how it was later mistranscribed, in case you need to widen the search.

Hi
Thanks for the info from Dave and Nigelo.
I got access to ancestry world tree yesterday ay our library ( live in Australia) and lo and behold there are some sunnucks families with heaps of info. I have to trawl through it all but saw a Ellen Sunnucks who died the same year as her birth. Thanks for that. Also John was married twice so that also helps.
I should be busy for a while but thanks once again
