The moderators will remove your attachment of the marriage license as it breaks copyright agreements or you can modify your post and remove it yourself and simply type in the relevant information found on the certificate.
This Harris shows a birthplace of Ohio not England. What were his parents names? Frank is stated in this record for father- does that agree with your information?
Debbie
Sorry I forgot you had included this information.

I was going to post a link to the ships image from Collections Canada but they seem to have a scheduled disruption for today. The ultimate destination seems to be Ottawa.

First of all sorry to the moderators I am a novice at this my apology's. Arthur Ernest was always known as Ernie According to my late Mum. Ernest had had an row with his mother Eliza Ann Harris and left for Canada when he was about 14. On this marriage I have found on Ancestry for 1920 in Canada he states his father was Frank I know he had no father but an Uncle Frank, one of Eliza's brothers. His mother details reads B gm not knows his Mum.Her sister is the Catherine Price I am looking for and thank you for her marriage details in Wentworth.I note this marriage is in Wentworth too.Catherine and Eliza,s Mother was Emma Pomfrett .I note on the marriage of Ernest a witness of which reads W H Pompfrett I think. My Mum seemed to think that Ernie was a president of a Steamship company He was supposed to have gone to Long Island.Ernest spent most of his life living with his Grandparents Henry and Emma Harris found him in the 1911 census of Essex England. Thank you to everyone for all your help. Jacquie

The details of the marriage registration in question are Ernest Arthur George Harris, s/o Frank Harris and can't remember mother's name, steamfitter, 22, bachelor, Presbyterian, living at 62 Market St. Hamilton, born Acron, Ohio. married on July 16, 1920 at Hamilton, Ontario to Evylin Ross, price clerk, 19, Presbyterian, of 144 Strachan St. E. Hamilton. witnesses: Alf A. Brown and W.M. Philpott both of Hamilton.
On the 1911 census Wilber M. Philpott is living with his parents in Hamilton, Ontario - probably the witness on the marriage certificate.

I can see why you are interested in a marriage in Hamilton as Katherine married her husband Arthur there in 1913.
I found a border crossing from Canada to the U.S. for Ernest A. Harris, steamfitter, May 12, 1924 at Niagara Falls. It is the same Ernest whose marriage record you found except some of the details don't agree with the marriage certificate.
His age is 21, married, steamfitter, Canadian nationality, born Hamilton, race Scotch, address 36 Oak Ave. Hamilton and that is the same address for his wife Evelyn. His stay in the U.S. is indefinite and he had never been to the U.S. before. The flip side of the card shows he married Aug 1, 1920 at Hamilton by Rev. Philpott, Baptist.
Debbie
I should add that the date he gives as his marriage August 1, 1920 is the date that ancestry has the border crossing indexed under but the front of the card gives the stamped date of May 12, 1924

To add to the confusion: Victoria Evaline Ross Harris crossed the border from Canada to Detroit, Michigan on 12 July 1946. She was born in Hamilton, Ontario April 12, 1901. She was Scotch. She was a Housekeeper. Her last permanent address was 15048 Forrer, Detroit, Michigan.
Nearest relative or friend: Sister Mrs. Hunter Finlayson, living on Cannon East, in Hamilton, Ont.
Victoria had been in the U.S. from January 1928 to date. Entered or lived in Detroit, Mich.
She was returning to her home on Forrer. ---------- I don't have access to the records, but a Victoria Evaline Ross was born in 1901 to Sarah A Ross and George Ross in Wentworth County. ------------- On the 1911 census is Evyln Ross, born April 1901. Living with mother Sarah and brother Royal and sister Pearl. http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html
Could this be Ernest's wife? -------------------- In 1901, Ross family members were machinists and boiler makers.

Hi Everyone, Sorry for the delay in writing. This looks like the right people obviously the stories got embroidered over the years in regards to where they came from like most records, they changed to suit themselves with what they put in census's etc. I would love to find out where they landed up as I believe it was Long Island Thank you for your help in finding these people. Cheers Jacquie
