I am trying to find about an ellen mcmullan born in 1852, in the 1911 census of Ireland she is married to an william john hamilton
It states in the year of birth she is from county antrim however there is a birth in 1852 in waringstown , her father was thomas mcmullan.

If you need anymore information just ask, as I very very confused about this.

Thanks Dav

Dav,
I can find the marriage of an Ellen McMullan to William John Hamilton on 22 Dec 1871 in Donaghcloney Presbyterian Church, Lurgan. In another site I find that the only marriage of Ellen McMullan in Co Down in 1871 had a father called John. This probably does not help but it gives you something else to pomder on.

Regards

I think that you have to remember that civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so any earlier records will probably be taken from church records. If your Ellen was born 1852 it might be that the record of any possible baptism for her does not survive in the church records so you can't assume the one that you did find is the correct one without a bit more research.
