Edward Fowler-COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 04 October 09 21:22 UTC (UK) »

I had an uncle Edward Fowler, whom, family rumour stated, was killed in
a blitz in WW2.
I know he was born in Aberdeen (Peterculter) in 1900 and his parents
were Samuel and Gracie.  That is all I know.
I recently located an Edward Fowler as having been killed in the blitz of Plymouth
on 21st April, 1941.  He was an able seamen in HMS Drake shore base, and many
of his colleagues perished with him.
I have applied for a death certificate, but am not holding out too much hope of
gaining much information from this, although, one never knows.
I have no idea whether my uncle was even in the navy as like many families
things were not spoken of.
On a Scottish website I have found an entry of death for an Edward Fowler in
1941-a coincidence, and it could be possible they are the same Edward.
There is no image available and I am told the information may be very limited.
I am just wondering whether anyone might have any knowledge which may help
me.
I appreciate I have very little hope of finding anyone around Aberdeen who could
help, but it is worth a try.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Ian

hi Ian  Smiley

i think your are on to something here
edward fowler is on the CWGC 1941 in the navy as you say
scotlandspeople has edward fowler death 1941 service returns born c1901
the service returns would indicate that he was in the armed forces so the
family rumour could be true

ev

ps 2 edward fowler's shown born aberdeenshire for 1901 on SP  Sad
unless he was registered twice ?
