where did Annie Haste/John Grundy go !!!!
« on: Monday 05 October 09 22:17 UTC (UK) »

Hi to all

After a bit of encouragement!  Elizabeth Haste born Camberwell in the 1850s had 2 illegitimate girls, 1 Topsy/Lucy Haste (we found all about her) and another Annie Haste b1885c in poplar London.  We know that the 2 girls were living with my G grandfather Robert John Haste (Elizabeth's Bro) for the 1st few years, but once liz married Henry Hire she took her girls back!  Topsy eventually left home and married in Bath were she has descendants to this day, however Annie Married John Grundy in 1916 in Poplar, and then the trail goes cold.  Any tips on going forward with this!  would love to find out if they had kids or emigrated.  Must tell you that before she married she took her step fathers name and became Annie Hire.

any takers!!!

regards Christian Haste

You can search for possible children using freebmd.  Births for that period show mothers maiden name

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

For emigration - you can check the free index at www.ancestorsonboard.com

Hi Christian

Have you found a death cert for Annie?

You would need to search the full GRO indexes on a subscription site as Freebmd is far from complete after the 1920's.

There don't appear to be many Annie Grundy's anyway on Freebmd (in London/Middlesex) and ages are given in the indexes so I would think as long as she stayed in the London/Middlesex area there can't be too many to check through.

Informants names, especially children, and marital status are often vital pieces of info on death certs.

Hi

I think you probably need to get the full details from the marriage certificate to ascertain further details about John Grundy. Annie would be marrying at the height of the First World War possibly to a man who is either serving or about to serve in the army and who might not have survived the war or survived it incapacitated so its worth checking for further details about John Grundy. There might be a Grundy descendant from John's extended family who is researching that line and knows more so again worth checking the details about John Grundy as another way to trying to find out more about Annie.

Thank you Dawn and Valda

You have certainly given me something to think about, and also certain possible leads to follow up!  We have currently let this part of the tree die, but i hope to revive it now!

christian

thanks again
