Father was listed as Wm Candy & mother as Mary  SMITH.
Ref = 9323

Too Many Thomas Henry White deaths to locate her husband!  Grin  Grin

Hi Dee

Using the PRO list of Wills I have found that this particular Thomas Henry WHITE died on 19 August 1924.

Does that help to identify his age at death and the names of his parents?

To help you finish off your summary, Phil, here's Mary Candy nee Smith's  death.......unfortunately there's no place of birth listed.

Mary CANDY aged 81 died in 1904 at Ncote
Parents  = Edmund SMITH & Mary PERCEY
Ref = 2610

I'm afraid I can find no record of the death of an Edith Candy nee James.  Undecided

A  little bit more for you Phil......

Wm CANDY & Edith JAMES had a son, Wm Stanley CANDY, born in 1890 at FITZROY NORTH.
Ref = 22808

I can't see any more children.

A Wm Stanley CANDY married Lanoma Grace SMITH in 1915
Ref = 3103

William Stanley  aged 81 died in 1971 at SORR
Ref = 10517

I tried looking for William Humphrey Candy on Electoral Rolls, but he does not appear as William Humphrey, making it very difficult to know which William he is.

And while there are more marriages for William Candys, there are none for a William Humphrey Candy.  Undecided

I guess he may have dropped the Humphrey part, but he is supposed to have married Anne Bolinda LOFT in or about 1914.

And of course there is the mysterious disappearance of his first wife Edith; no sign of her in any of the main cemeteries and apparently no record of her death anywhere in Victoria either!

Curiouser and curiouser... Wink

How many Edith Candys do you have, Phil....either born Candy or married into the Candy family.....who would have been adults after 1901?

I have a reason for asking.........

OK Phil.....here's the story.....

In 1903 William Candy and wife Edith are together. They must have just had the one child.

By 1909 they're living separately, and in 1914 that continues. However son Stanley William is with his mother.

Last sighting of Edith is in 1937, while William disappears after 1914 until 1931, when he reappears with second wife Annie.

More details directly in a PM........

There's still some questions to be answered!  Grin  Grin  Grin

Phil, there could possibly be a divorce record.

http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/publications/documents/05335-P0.asp

However, as you'll see , they are very large files to download  ....far too much for my very very slow broadband.

Also,  there's no search engine. You must go through them page by page, year by year.

Hi dee,
The files you menion are certainly big and cumbersome as you say.
The consolation for Phil is that because of your good research together, he would probably only need to look at
UNIT 4 of them which is the lot from 1911 to 1924.
