Hi,

I would very much appreciate some help proving a link to an ancestor of mine - William Joyce.

My investigations to date have proved inconclusive although I believe I have narrowed it down to 2 possibilities:

1. William Joyce - b 1808, Thatcham, Berks or 2. William Joyce - b 1804, Combe, Hampshire (on the Berkshire border?)

The William I am after married Dinah Smoker on 26 Jan 1832 in Thatcham (witnessed by Dinah's sister Maria and a James Hyde).  On the same day, role reversal - James married Maria and this was witnessed by William and Dinah.  Further research has unearthed that a Richard Joyce married Sophia Hyde (James' sister? in 1832 (date unknown?).  Could it be that all three marriages took place on the same day???

This also throws up the possibility that Richard and William could well be brothers.  An entry on the IGI, shows a Richard Joyce b 1807/08 in Thatcham.  Mother's details given as Priscilla Joyce; Father - unknown. 1881 census records indicate that this Richard married a Sophia.

I would be grateful if someone could check the Berkshire Baptism records for me to see if Richard and William do indeed have the same parent(s).
