Census information Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Hello,
I've managed to track down my paternal line as far as he 1841 census. On the 1851, my gggg grandfather is listed as being born at Chirk, I estimate somewhere 1780-1800. The man I'm trying to find is Edward Lawrence - he had a sister Mary and a brother Richard. He eventually married a Mary Cross (I think) in Forden, Montgomeryshire.
Any and all help very much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris Lawrence

Also found this burial which may help with age of Sarah:
Chirk 14 Nov 1816 Sarah Lawrence, aged 75. Abode - Shrewsbury
I've been trying to locate Hallstone. There are two in Shropshire:
http://www.surnamedb.com/surname.aspx?name=Hallstone
I've managed to locate the one to the SW of Shrewsbury but not the one near Oswestry.
I'll see if I can find something else.

Wow Gadget - don't you have anything else to do?
The names/dates seem about right. Now I've got some of my paperwork out, it says on 1851 census that Edward was 63, Richard 66 and Mary 74. I've not heard of the Sarah sibling before, but there are many Sarahs in subsequent generations so I'm not completely surprised. Slightly puzzled by Edward's mother though, if it's the same family.
Thanks for all this - can't tell you how delighted I am.
Cheers

I have lots more to do, Chris . This is the way that I forget about them
Also, I think that I'm the only one on here with the Chirk registers - so if I didn't do it, where would you be, eh

Where would I be? When you get to 7 or 8 generations back, you have plenty more to go at.
I guess I'd try something easy like my Irish ancestors - stuck at about 1914!
I'm also guessing that if you didn't want to do it, you wouldn't. We all appreciate it I'm sure.

Do you have any idea what Richard, snr. did for a living?
He's not in the Chirk baptisms that I can see so he must have moved into the area.

Richard Snr? No idea - I didn't even know his name until last night. All subsequent Lawrences until 1880ish have been farmers, so that wouldn't surprise me.
