Apart from name, D.O.B and P.O.B what else do you have abt him?

Where do you have him last seen, or heard of should I say?

In other words what is your connection to him?

You know all info from you, helps us, to help you.

Civil registration of births in Ireland began in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate. To find a possible church record you need to knoiw the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland or in the case of Belfast itself, the street). However, with such a common name as James Johnston even if you find such a record around the date you think he was born you've no way of knowing if you've found the correct person.
If James Johnston married in Ireland his marriage certificate should list his father's name and occupation but without any more details from you there's nothing else I can suggest.

Thank you for the replies.

All I know about James is year of birth and he was born in Belfast County Down,  I believe his parents names are John and Ellen Mary (Sanfield).   They came to Australia (dont know when), I believe James died in Australia about 1915, but can't find anything on him.

That is all the information that I have on James Johnston.  So anything that you can find on him would be great.

Hi Midsumer

What part of Australia do you believe he died in?

Did he have any children, that you know of?

I know its questions again...

Wendy

I dont know what happened to my reply but I think it dissappeared

All I know is that he died in 1915 in Box Hill Victoria, and I cant find any information for that year.   The dates that I have been given are 29 March 1915 and 28 February 1915, so I dont know which date is correct.

I know about the site, but it has nothing to do with me, because I have just checked it out, so there must be another person doing  research on James Johnston, going by what they have stated they have more information than what I have so maybe you can see if they are all connected.

Thanks

Midsumer

There's an unsourced tree on A******y that shows who your James married and the children he had and the fact that he is buried in Yan Yan cemetery in Victoria.

If  you don't have access to the above site woudl you like for me to try make contact with the tree owner?

Thank you for your replies, I will go and see what you have to do to become a member, so thank you again.

If you would not mind contacting the tree owner on A******y that would be terrific.

So will wait for your next reply.

Wendy

I have contacted Gary and his James is my James so we have started sending information.

I have joined the site and the member knows nothing more on James than what is on his site.

So I think you can now CLOSE THIS THREAD.

So thank you again.
