have a new computer is it possible to find all my old emails and contacts of old computer hard drive .have it attached through external drive .thanks haydon

You didn't mention which email program you were using.

If it was Outlook Express then search for the files .dbx and .wab:

inbox.dbx (the actual emails: DataBase eXchange file)
address.WAB (WAB = Windows Address Book)

The files will be in the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name

That is just the first part of the pathname, it has a very long path.  Just start searching for:

*.dbx
*.wab

Use the asterisk as a wildcard.

If you used Outlook (part of MS Office) then you are looking for the files:

outlook.pst
archive.pst
