Where did you find that one with her being an out door worker.

I have looked on scotlands people but can't find anything.

I found that one on Ancestry. SP also seem to have it as BARNS, probably due to the writing on the original. Can't check the original though as you know SP only have an index for 1881.

There is also a John Barns showing as born in Haddington in 1877. I wonder if the surname varied over the years? Possibly your John.

I have found the birth one and it looks like it is him but for some reason John Burns his dad isn't on it. Do you know why this may be?
