Mckee/McRoberts

Hi...new to the board...but very impressed with it's information... Smiley

I'm looking for information on the family of James McKee (b. cir. 1803)and his wife Francis (Fanny) McRoberts (b. cir. 1813)...they came to Canada in 1840 (with 3 children, John (b. 1835), James Jr. (b. 1838) and Ann Jane (b. 1840), and the only link I have for the County of Down is that is where there 3rd child is listed as being born...
I have no other clues as to their links into Ireland...

I'd love to hear from anyone who might know something of this family prior to their leaving Ireland, or anyone with information as to where I might try looking...

Thanking you in advance...

Craig:
One of my favourite sites for County Down is Ros Davies. I took a look and there are lots of McKees listed.
This one looks like your James and Frances.
"James McKEE . Bangor & Newtownards of Ballygrainey; married Fanny McCroberts 7 Nov 1835 at 1st Newtownards Presbyterian Church, witnesses were Thomas McManus & Thomas McKee & David Orr  "
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/SURNAMES/Mc/McKeeJ.htm

Take a look at listings for McRoberts and you will notice several using the McCroberts version and who are also in Newtownards. Relatives?
Good luck,
Pat

Pat...you are absolutely marvelous...you just handed me a bit of a home in Ireland Shocked...
James and Fanny are my Great Grandparents...and while I had clues, I now have something concrete to chase...

Thanks Smiley
