My great grandfather Eugene Hide was born in Ireland and on the 1911 census in Liverpool he says taht Julianstown was where he was born. He was the son of Frederick and Mary Ann HIDE and his father was an ex naval man who was on Coastguard duty. Between 1871 and 1879 they had 5 children in Julianstown or Laytown. I have Eugene's birth certificate and two others. Some of the children also died there. Not all of them have birth certs as i wrote off for them a few years ago.
Can anyone tell me which churches were around at that time, and where possibly they were baptised. They were not originally Catholic as any other records in England where of the Church of England.
Where might the children who died be buried if they were born in Julianstown or Laytown. I'm a bit clueless as where to start as i do not know how big a town i am dealing with fo either town
many thanks Wendy

Welcome to Rootschat. IGI (www.familysearch.org) lists 4 children of Frederick Henry Hide and Mary Anne Spiller (all born Co.Meath)- 1. Arthur born 31 Jan.1871 2. Mary Elizabeth born 13 Mar.1873 (mother- Spillar) 3. Henry born 6 July 1874 4. Eugene born 20 Aug.1876
If any of the family were still in Ireland in 1911 the census is online (free)- www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search Index to civil registration is online (also free) but I took a quick look and couldn't find marriage of Frederick and Mary Anne anywhere in Ireland http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails;t=searchable;c=1408347 I did see birth registrations for Eugene, Mary, Henry and Arthur which fit with above dates (and death for infant Mary) in Drogheda registration district. I couldn't identify any other possible children and am wondering if the parents didn't marry and have some of their children outside Ireland.

Did a bit more searching to confirm my suspicions. 1881 census (9 Bowman St., South Toxteth, Lancashire) shows the family: Frederick Hy. Hide, 40, born London Mary Ann Hide, 41, born Cornwall Samuel Hide, 1, born Devon Frederick O. Hide, 14, born Devon Arthur Hide, 10, Ireland* Henry William Hide, 6, Ireland Eugene Hide, 4, Ireland Josephine Hide, 1, Ireland** + 2 lodgers
*Mary (1873-1873) was child between Arthur and Henry. **Josephine is 5th child of the family born in Ireland
Laytown is on the coast but Julianstown is further inland.

a few details for you from the index on the IFHF website -
baptisms are listed for four of the children (matching the details aghadowey posted) in the Church of Ireland Parish of Julianstown with the spelling Hyde
Arthur 1871, Mary Elizabeth 1873, Henry William 1874 and Eugene 1876
A possible match for Josephine's baptism found in North County Dublin :
Josephine Hide 1879 Co. Dublin (North) Parish: Donabate (CI) Donabate is about 25km south of Julianstown.

One of my ancestors was born later (1896) in the same registration district as Donabate (Balrothery) and her birth was not registered.
I found her parish record ok but there was nothing in the civil register for her. I remember being told that she had great difficulty when she tried to obtain a passport for her first visit to the US as the GRO were not able to find a birth cert for her... not sure how they sorted it out in the end
edit : I ran another search on that Josephine baptism record and the father's name is Frederick.
