Falkland Islands "Desire The Right"
|
Hi Ray
Welcome to Rootschat
Do you have any Census for them? An 1881 transcript can be found here: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp
The parents are at Mercer Street, Newton in Makerfield Lancashire in 1881: Father John HOLLAND is enumerated as age 26 born Stretton Cheshire 1855
Let us know if you want to find the earlier or later Census
Cheers AMBLY

Hi again,
I think this is Arthur's father with his parents in 1871:-
living in Stretton (hard to read but could be Stretton Lane) Thomas Holland 62 head born Chrislington, Cheshire occ agricultural labourer Mary Holland 64 wife born Lutton, Cheshire Alfred Holland 21 son born Stretton, Cheshire occ agricultural labourer John Holland 18 son born Stretton, Cheshire occ sadler
RG10/3688/92 p 8
Trying to find a possible birth for John. Northwich seems to be the closest place to Stretton and there are 2 possibles:-
Mar 1853 John Holland Northwich 8a 224
Dec 1853 John Holland Northwich 8a 203

Northwich was X1X from 1837 to 1851 http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/northwich.html You can always look at the pair of glasses to see if the translation is correct.
