JOHNS & ELLIS - St Stephen in Brannel
« on: Friday 09 October 09 13:34 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I have a marriage for William Johns & Hannah Ellis 6 Jul 1799 in St Stephen in Brannel, however, there is no mention of parents on the marriage transcript only witnesses being Jno Ellis (presume father of hannah, could well be brother) and Joseph Trethewy.

I have looked in all the obvious places but can not find the parents of William & Hannah, I would put their births around 1769-1779, It doesnt mention on the marriage banns transcript (Cornish-OPC) whether they are of the parish or not.

I just need fresh eyes on it just in case im missing something.

thanks
Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,

Unfortunately fathers were not listed at marriage until after civil registration began in July 1837. It is not just this transcript, this parish or even Cornwall, or that you are missing something, the information was not included in UK parish records at this time.  Cry

thanks kris,

these 2 are really bugging me, I have gone back to the 1600s so far with all my lines but this one, really annoying.

May have to visit cornwall again before christmas.

thanks
