Edward and Eleanor Austin

Hello All,

My ancestor was a Thomas Austin born about 1792 in Hastings. It says on familysearch that his parents were Edward and Eleanor but can find no marriage between an Edward and Eleanor at all.

Any help?

I had a look also on the IGI records,

Thomas Austin
(female)!!
born 11/03/1792.
st.Clements,
Hastings,
father: Edward Austin
mother Eleanor.

what I found surprising was they were no other children to Edward and Eleanor not in England or the whole of the British isles.
Normally when you type in the parents names up comes a few children.
It is possible that the IGI records are wrong.
they state he was a female with a name like Thomas I doubt it!

I recon your next step would be to check out the original records,
the church records and obtain a copy of this certificate,

Hi Tilly

I have the Hastings Baptisums on Fiche.

I found a Thomas Austin 11 Nov 1792  BUT Mum & Dad were William & Eleanor.

Also 17 Nov 1788  William.

28 Feb 1790 Philadelphia Venis.

I cannot find a marriage for William & Eleanor in Sussex.

There is a marriage in cork, Ireland. Would there be more chance they were from Ireland than another county in England?
