I am trying to fatham out if there are 2 Farquhars born between 1805 and 1814 to Walter Sinclair and Marion McArthur.

I have a birth extract for the 1st in 1805 - illegitimate.
But the census' from 1841 to 1881 have his birth date between 1811-1813.
His death cert states his birth as 1814.

Is it reasonable to assume that all the census were out by at least 6-8 years? I understand that they would not be accurate.

Has anyone any ideas?

could the first one have died early
it is not unusual to name another child with the same name if the first one had passed away?

Have not to this date found another death for a Farquhar but will have another dig.
