Ewerby churchyard
« on: Saturday 10 October 09 02:22 UTC (UK) »

Is there anybody who can check Ewerby churchyard for a gravestone for me? My ancestor was buried there in 1886 but unfortunately I live in Hertfordshire so it's a bit of a way to go just to see if the grave is still there.

If anyone can help please let me know and I'll give more details.

Ok this is the person I'm lookiing for:

George Richardson (1808-1886)

He was a coachman for the Earl of Winchelsea and died at Halverholme Priory, Sleaford, Lincolnshire (owned by the Earl I believe) on 30 January 1886. According to the National Burial Index he was buried at Ewerby on 1 February 1886.

If you need any more info please let me know. I really hope you are able to find something.

Thanks again

Hi Matt

I'll have a look later in the week. If he has a gravestone, will take a photo of it Wink

Quick reply! Ok thanks. His wife Jane (nee Keene) died in 1874 but she is buried in Boughton Aluph, Kent. She has a gravestone so I am hoping George has one as well.

Thanks again for looking.

Hi Matt

I had a look around the Ewerby Churchyard this morning, and am sorry to say there is no gravestone for a George Richardson. About 40% of the gravestones are unreadable due to the type of stone used and are worn away.
