In 1891 he was age 4, son of John, cabinetmaker, and Mary, 28 Hamilton St, Ardrossan.
Does anyone know if he is the same William Fullarton that was a footballer in adulthood?
Thank you.

Hi JoyKM Although residing in Western Australia, I am Saltcoats born and bred. There WAS a large hardware store in Dockhead Street, Saltcoats named "Fullartons" and Dockhead Street adjoins Hamilton Street. Suggest you visit www. threetowners.com and register (FREE) which specifically covers Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston ("three towns") and has a Genealogy Forum to which you can post.
Kind regards.

Apologies JoyKM, your reference to "28 Hamilton St, Ardrossan" is chronologically CORRECT although the correct address now is "28 Hamilton St, Saltcoats". In 1891, Saltcoats was divided between the Parishes of Ardrossan and Stevenston. The division marker is still clearly visible near Saltcoats Town Hall, see attachment.
Interestingly, I returned from Saltcoats on 31 Oct (a few days ago) and am pleased to advise that 28 Hamilton Street still stands and is in use.

A "William Fullarton" made 27 appearances for Gillingham Football Club during period 1908-1910. If this is he, the age is about right.

Hi Joy,
Not sure if you have this. William's full name was William Malcolm Fullarton and he was born the 22nd April 1886 at Hamilton Street, Saltcoats.
I found this death for a William Malcolm Fullarton, b. April 23rd 1886. He was part of the Canadian Infantry, and KIA 26th April 1915. Link here; http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=collections/virtualmem/detail&casualty=485363
WWI records on Ancestry show it's the same man. Born Saltcoats, and enlisted 14th September 1914. His next of kin was a Bessie Fullarton, wife.
Hope this helps.

Hello
Link to his attestation papers below giving his address in Calgary at the time, showing info as above and employment pre military as a carpenter. This gives the front page. If you click top right of the image - will give you the back of the form and some further info. Looks as though a post on the Canada board next?
Regards, Steve .
