Require info 5th Dragoon Guards

Hi

Could somebody please help...One of my ancestors was in the 5th Dragoon Guards joined in 1814 in Dublin and discharged in 1834 also in Dublin,would love to know what the 5th dragoon guards got upto between those dates, on his papers it says he only served in Ireland and Great Britain.

All I can add at the mo is that they were in France up until July when they went to Dover....All I have then is "UK" until 1850!

If you haven’t heard of it, it will be in Ireland. These are the location of the main force. As they would invariably be ‘billeted on the population’ the regiment could have been spread out into outlying areas. To be sure where your man was you will have to look at the muster books in Kew. Although researching 20 years of musters will take a while.
