Ann Swaley of Leeds abt 1811
« on: Sunday 11 October 09 14:28 UTC (UK) »

Married Thomas Rhodes 18/10/1828 at Leeds St Peters Parish Church (IGI).

Any details of Swaleys in and around Leeds appreciated.

Possibly born Holbeck (according to 1851 Census)

I found this marriage in a local newspaper, not quite Swaley, but both of Holbeck:

The Leeds M........y  Saturday, August 25, 1838

Same day, (Monday), August, 20th, Mr. Thomas Rhodes, woolsorter to Miss Mary Swales, both of Holbeck.

What do you think?

Hi
Did you mean Mary was married in 1838 not 1828 on your post?
She is on the Yorkshire BMD for 1838 and the certificate is CE46/3/299

I looked on Yorkshire BMD and also in 1838 a James Swaley married Rachel Atha at St Peters Church, Leeds, this could have been a relative of Mary. This Church was where most people in Leeds seemed to be married in  those days. I have lots of my family married there.

If you put the name Swaley in for BMD there are quite alot around Leeds

Hope this gives you a line to run along
